The Story of Assi & Linor

This one goes out to the One I love

Yes, a whole page dedicated to my husband. Some of you might think it's a bit corny, but I guess that's what being newlyweds is all about. Being corny and smoochy. This is the link his website, where he writes his little blogs.

Part one, written Dec 7th,

I guess we make for an interesting couple, since we both have very distinct personalities, very different from one another. There is still one common demoninator: the way we look at life and what we want from it. Assi is a non-conformist, he lives life by his rules, even if it means stepping on a few social conventions. He is a strong anti-traditionalist. I on the other hand, tend to play by the rules, and have completely conformed to society's dictates. But I define myself as living as colorfully within the framework as I can. If I am going to have border, I might as well splash as many colors as I can. I guess, Assi's first impression is misleading. He comes across as threatening. It's because he's shy. Or maybe just assessing the situation. Who knows? Being over-sized than I am, larger than life you may say, I stick out in a crowd. So naturally I am friendly. In recent years I have become more of a recluse, but it comes with maturity I guess. We met via role-playing. I had been bit by the LARP bug and decided to run a game. I have played ONLY ONE game before trying to undertake such an ambitious goal. It was a failure, of course. But the whole adventure got me Assi, so it wasn't a total lost. He was one of the people who assisted in setting up the game. Props wise and everything. Before we actually got down to building and creating, I started hanging out with the gaming crowd, which Assi was a part of, at the time. Every saturday evening he would go swimming with my brother-in-law, and one time they invited me to come along. I think they offered as a joke, because they looked at me funny when I said I'll come along. It turned out that since it was the first saturday in September, the pool was closed. Being in a mood for physical activity (no pun intended) Assi offered that we take a walk. My then brother-in-law didn't join us. We headed out of my place, since Assi needed sneakers for the walk. Then we walked. and talked. about Gaelcon. for an hour and a half I invited him for stretches and a drink of water. We continued talking, I broke the glass. It was the first glass I broke in my new apartment, 1 out of a set of 12 tall blue glasses.

Part 2 - continued on Dec.13th

We broke the 6th at our engagement party and the 11th at our wedding. The world turns. Actually Assi and I had our official first date only after we returned from Gaelcon. But the real "date" before that was a random wednesday, when Assi took me to his favorite resturant. At the time, Assi worked near to my work, so after work he would pick me up. I thought it was cool, driving on a motorcycle. I guess all women go through "that" phase in life. So we had time to kill, and we went to eat spaghetti. The look he gave me when I pulled out my wallet to pay my way. I guess that makes it a "date" since he paid, but at the time I was still thinking of him as a friend. Mostly because our first kiss was a bit sloppy. The man tried to devour me, and Ladies, you know what that means. Slobber-a-rama. But Gaelcon got the better of us. On a sponatenous note, I decided to join Assi in Gaelcon that year, although offically I had enough of gaming for a while. It was the best fun in the world. I arrived the Friday of the Pre-con party night and he tried to kiss me at the pub. Of course I didn't let him, if he needed to be drunk to kiss me, then he shouldn't do it in public! But we kissed the following night, which was ok. We got back from Gaelcon and loved each other since. It's strange, I flew to Gaelcon to be with Assi, and only on Monday did I get a chance to play a game with him. We played the Salem witch trails. I was a 72 year old grandma, and he was a 10 year old girl! and since I was accused of being a witch, every time I came near him, he would get boils and bad stuff. To that, my sister would nod and say: "cool beans". We were a very private couple at first. It took us 2 months until we told people and started showing ourselves. It was more fun that way, I guess. Assi and myself without the world barging in. His friends liked me, and my friends thought he was quiet. The truth was, Assi and I would spend hours into the night just talking. He was and still is one of the more interesting people I know. But he would say I am biased. But, it's my right to be. Gee, I love my husband.

April 22nd, 2003

We went to Crete last weekend. And like the two adventurous people that we are, all we did was eat and sleep. We were outside no more than 1 hour a day. We were like babies, waking up to eat then falling back to sleep. Now that is a vacation! Photos later.
